New York Shorebirds
New York Shorebirds
I am offering a limited number of private and small-group in-the-field workshops at some of my favorite locations in and around New York City for photographing shorebirds. Whether you are a seasoned bird photographer visiting the area and wanting to minimize searching for the best locations or would like to work on your field techniques, especially for flight and behavior shots, these sessions may be for you!
I am a trained animal behavior scientist and award-winning wildlife photographer who has photographed shorebirds in the New York area for many years. So you can be sure to get expert guidance that will benefit your photography.
Date: Flexible
Start time: Half hour before sunrise
Duration: 3 hours
Included:
- A 30-minute pre-trip virtual meeting on an agreed-upon date/time to discuss experience, gear, objectives and address any questions you may have.
- Guidance on behavioral characteristics of the subjects, sensitivity to disturbance, and strategies for obtaining better photographs during the field session
- Getting you to the best spots at the best time so you have the highest chance of creating beautiful and potentially award-winning photographs
- Real-time advice on subject and scene selection, composition, camera settings, angles, and picking the right focal length. Important Note: These sessions are not for showing you how to use your camera, as that would waste valuable time in the field. My expectation is that you have a good understanding and control over your camera settings and options. I am a Canon shooter and can advise you on Canon-specific settings but in-the-field guidance is focused on exposure and composition that apply equally to all systems.
Post-trip editing session can be booked separately and can be about any aspect of the post-shoot workflow.
