For anyone visiting the Falkland Islands, penguins are one of the top wildlife attractions and calling these islands home in the thousands.
One of these species is the rockhopper penguin. Rockhopper penguins are nothing short of amazing. They nest on rocky shores in the Southern Ocean and are great at hopping, hence their name. They are also great at battling the giant ocean surf that threatens to smash them to pieces every time they try to get onto land to feed their chicks.
Watching this drama unfold before my eyes was easily once of the most awe-inspiring moments I have experienced in recent history and I thought I would share some footage of what it was like. Also, visualize me at the edge of a cliff barely being able to stand let alone keep a steady lens focusing on the action below.
